Broken spigot on radiator

B*gger! Confused



Spigot to overflow pipe has broken off. Without mentioning J B Weld, is there an accepted solution to such a problem. Something could probably be turned in brass to self-tap its way in - or could it?

yeap, a threaded brass thing with sealant is an excellent idea.

I usually put a brass sleeve between the rad and the broken off bit and glue the plastic together.

Even OEM manufactures used to put a sleeve in them for strength

Panic over - it seems cracked ones can be fixed with some cream available in most chemists.

Yep, a perfectly viable method for a fix. As is a bit of pipe that has a friction fit in the hole held in with J B Weld (there, I did it).

I usually find however that once the plastic is brittle enough to start snapping bits that a larger failure is inevitable. I'd hate to pop a top or bottom hose spigot (or split a tank) on the road somewhere.

It snapped when I lent on it whilst changing the serpentine belt. D'Oh! Embarassed
