Discovery with car transporter |
|
Just had the car transporter on the back of the discovery, tried driving the car onto it but the bumper of the car was going to hit the ramps, so put disco in off road mode to lower the back of the trailer then the car went on no problem, took the car to where it needed to go, put ramps out, go to reverse car of trailer slowly, which lifted the back of the disco up, air suspension dumps air out of rear bags, disco drops, back of trailer goes up and car won’t come of. Is there any way to keep the disco fully up while taking a car of the trailer?
Tia.

there is a mode for underground carparks where you can lock it to low so you dont hit the ceiling in car park...not sure if that would work in off road height...worth a try...has the trailer rear legs that would stop it moving

Open drivers door on disco ... should stop suspension adjusting.
If not enough height, put disco in off road mode, stick something solid under chassis and try and lower it. It should go into extended off road height. .

I can confirm leaving the drivers door open stops the suspension dropping. I have a similar issue with my horse box when the animals are taken out.

doh ! realised I'm making that harder than it need be if you have a trailer attached ... put something under the tow-hitch and try to lower the car.

would strongly advise against putting anything under the tow hitch a) one you are putting additional vertical strain on the hitch b) as we all know very well here, the composite metal that the tow hitch sits in is a lot different then the chassis cross member, don't want to loose the tow bar inadvertently by doing it too often
As mentioned, door open my friend oh and leave the window cracked open just in case it self locks
From my own experience, trigger rises when going on to the trailer, never had an issues but of course mine is a VJ T6 triaxle with 10"inch wheels
Of course another option is to get a different trailer that is more practical for such a low car
