Help with ticking noise
can anybody point me in the right direction for this ticking noise, could it be an injector? seems to be coming from the left side of the engine.

I wonder if it’s move a chuffing noise.
Ie an injector leaking. (Copper washer)
You should feel air above the injector or see soot mark evidence
Otherwise there are chains in the heads

OK I have had a look, looks like plenty of soot around the 3 injectors on the drivers side, and the rear one looks like its possibly leaking..Which looks like a pain to get to is it a straight forward job to do? and is it possible to just change the copper washer or is it a new injector?
Thank you

I can't really tell if that is oil or soot from the photo.
And I'm surprised is all of the them. But if you are sure air is excapeing...
Disconnect the electric plug
You loosen the metal pipe nuts at both ends. Warning fuel is under high pressure.
So as soon as you see fuel start to leak out, leave it to drain off.
Then remove the flexiable leak off pipe.
The metal clips are a nightmare for flinging off and getting lost. So would recommend you order some spares or tie cotton around them!
Then unclip the pipe. These can also be fragile and you really don't want to be breaking them! Could cost £100+
Then undo the injector bolts.
Injectors can be stuck, sometimes twisting free's them and wd40. Sometimes you need a puller tool.
As yours are leaking I guess they may come out easy?
The drivers side injectors are ok to do.
Rear passenger is more work

Thank you for your response.
I think the back one may be oil, as it looks wet. Regarding air, I cant feel anything its just looks like soot and possibly oil in the rear one.
If it is oil is it still the same washer that needs replacing?
regards Dan

Oil is unlikey to be coming past that washer.
So maybe try changing one washer at a time (ones you are sure of) and start the car and see if its improved.

Getting the seat clean is the hardest bit of the job, you can get cheap seat cutters off of ebay, you do not actually want to cut the seat just use the cutters to clean the surface up.

Shouldn't be oil there, could be a gasket problem or perhaps manifold crack on the oil side. Or, incorrectly torqued manifold/injector bolts, but the "tick" does sound like injector leak at the copper washers.
You might have a battle to get them out if it's been like that for a prolonged time period.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Have you tried a scantool to see if any codes have been generated? My TDV6 developed similar noise at approx 125000 miles, scantool diagnosed leaking injector on one cylinder. Changed two injectors in the area where the noise was coming from, problem solved. I dumped my sump oil and checked the oil filter for swarf prior to changing injectors , happily there was none. In my case cause of knocking was overfuelling of one cylinder caused by faulty injector. Injectors work hard , have never seen a service bulletin regarding when to replace but in my case, ended up replacing all six injectors just to be safe. Hope you find the cause.

After getting a ap200 (still trying to work out how to get nice display) it has pointed me to injector 1. Am I right in thinking this is the drivers side front I.e. Closest to the grill.
Thank you

yes, you describe cylinder 1
(in some documentation injector No.1 is different!) But worth changing that washer if that is where the noise is coming from

Make sure you get it spotless in there before you put back the injector, especially the seat and use a new copper washer. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
