[Swap] Removable for fixed tow bar |
|
I have a removable tow bar complete with two keys and red bung that I’m looking to swap for a fixed tow bar if anyone is interested.
Just purchased a twin axle 6berth caravan and don’t fancy using the removable tow bar.

Hi,
I am with GalwayGreen just use the removable one
But just a note regarding a "Safety Chain" or the Breakaway cable,
its job is to apply the tintents brakes as if you have used the handbrake, it only has to be strong enough to do that, then it can break away and hopefully allow the tintent to come to a halt via its brakes as its not attached to the tow car

I towed our 1800kg twin axle caravan with the wifes RRS using the removable tow bar with no issues. I would probably fit a fixed one myself, but as mentioned just get the security plate. You can get them from Ryan Wild, I am sure hes a member on here, but if not he is on the FB group, theyre about £25. Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

Hi,
have a search for the thread that had the Votes, you can see the scores on the doors then
removable = occasional use
fixed = regular use (or if you wear belts and braces )
and securing plate adds your confidence
and ALL must be kept in good order

I tow a Swift Challenger, I have used both removable and fixed (Using fixed now) I use the security plate even on the fixed, it gives that added confidence
I got mine from from Advanced FActors > https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/kit434-s...0032-p.asp

Ah ok apologies I misunderstood. No worries, unfortunately I don’t have a detachable to swap as it recently mysteriously vanished off the car
