Can anyone shed some light on this knocking?. Started today when stopped at traffic lights, appears to fade a bit when doing 30+ mph. It has been slow at starting lately with a puff of grey smoke!.
Thanks.

I wouldnt keep starting it until you can work out whats going wrong - difficult to say from the video as im only on laptop speakers but doesn't sound good could be spun main bearing, hopefully something a little less costly like the aux belt tensioner Must stop buying shiny toys....

Thanks Darrind. Pulley tensioner was changed last month. Sound is definitely coming from in the engine. “When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.”

Thanks for all the replies. Just too keep you up date with the knock. The garage picked it up today and have informed me that one of the injectors is shot and possibly 3 others are also pretty shot. They are sending them all off to be tested and will let me know. I will post when I hear anything. Thanks. “When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. SO....... I have just got off the phone to the garage owner, who is on the beach in Spain!. Injectors have been returned as working fine. They are now replacing them and are going to do a compression test, thinking of possible water ingress?. The day it died was the day of a big snow melt here so went through a fair amount of standing water, although it is fitted with a snorkel. “When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. SO! . The Disco is no more, it is a deceased Disco.
Injectors came back as fine, they done a pressure test and various other things to no avail. They are now thinking possible oil pump which requires engine out body off and another holiday paid for by me for the mechanic and his family. Obviously I have called it a day on the old girl, another dead Land Rover in our collection. Needless to say we need another family car, that is not.going to blow up so we have now stayed away from Land Rovers and brought a.....oh no wait a minute...we brought a Freelander 2 . FFS will I never learn. “When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.”
