Any advise
Hi Guys,
Need some advise. Put a deposit down on a 09 D3 HSE last week.
Current owner put through mot but now has these advisories!
Should I walk away and lose deposit or totally fixable?
Cheers for any help

Very common issues, my only concern will be the state of the sills under the plastic covers.
The chassis are quite often rusty even when they were a few years old, I have a 2016 D4 in the workshop now that has a lot of surface rust but the chassis is thick and it can be easily treated.
I would use it to knock him down a bit but I wouldn't be to concernedAndrew

It's fixable.
Suspension bushes are a known thing. Fronts are relatively easy, rears can be more tricky.
Corrosion, it's 12 years old, they are all starting to get a bit of corrosion now. There ars some threads on here about corrosion protection, depends how far you want to go with it.
Side steps corroded. Good, take the horrible things off, and throw them in a skip! Richard

If so I would suggest asking the vendor to get an estimate for the necessary work, excluding side steps, and to make a contribution to rectification. If you don't ask you don't get.

i read some panic.. reading in it you do not have much spannering experience on motors.. (not bad meant! ) but TBH but what do you expect from a 12 year old motor? thay are made of steel mostly, so they rust.. and wear... so it should always be taken into account... they need regular love and care (money and time that is) the older they are, the better it is that you spanner and maintain it yourself to keep costs as low as possible.. source everthing out regarding maintenance and spannerwork? buy younger and from a trusted dealer/indy.... depends on what you paid for it if it can be considered reasonable..
but side steps are a external feature.... nothing structural.... you do not need them, so can be removed.. and if you need them, it is not the most expesive feature on a Disco...
the rest is allready said... bushings wear... on ALL brands and models... most of them need attention after 10 years of use.... nothing to worry about imho.. if the price was ok/right...Best regards
Harold

Hi,
also wonder what it Failed on
if they had to replace a load of other stuff to get through the MOT could actually be a good point

Hi,
well they did not have to do loads then
But a couple of brake pipes and the other side bush had to be done, what it does give you,
they know (and you can ask) exactly how much it will cost to do the side that is still down as an advised
and
If one side has been done and the other side advised I would get it done sooner rather than later if you do proceed
I wouldn’t be worried
May I ask how much it’s up for
I have the same year model and thinking on selling soon
Well looked after with similar mileage
Full history
Thanks
