New height sensors don't really fit properly
I'm replacing my height sensors and with the latest design, a bracket is used to secure the sensor, vs going straight into the plastic housing as per the original.
The issue as seen in the picture below is that the screw head fouls the sensor arm due to the reduced gap caused by this bracket. The simple solution is to file down the plastic arm but just wanted to check this was normal before proceeding to hack up a genuine part. Seems like a really bad design by LR once again, if indeed I am not at fault here.
Cheers

Have you got the correct sensor, front and rear are different. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Quite annoyed about is one tbh guys. Spoken to advanced factors, Duckworths and an indy and none of them have come across the issue.
I find it hard to believe I'm the only D3 owner on the planet who's had this issue unless I'm doing something wrong..
I would like nothing more than for someone to come in here, tell me I'm an idiot and show me what I'm doing wrong...
So come on, what the heck is up with this?

Yeah had a look at that thread. All I've really taken from it is that I'm gonna have to look around for a new original part that hasn't been superceded unfortunately. Cheers

I have further countersunk the bracket to ensure the heads are totally flush and the difference is negligible. Simple put, the issue lies solely with the bracket; it simply should not be there. I've filed down the screw as much as I can.
I have now spoken to Advanced factors, Rimmer's, Duckworths, old forge garage, Stratton's and Lovell Land Rovers. None of them have ever had this issue.

Could you possibly install the height sensor without the metal bracket? If I am understanding this correctly, the bracket is sandwiched between the sensor and the bracket on the chassis. If you remove the metal bracket the sensor should protrude a little more allowing clearance of the screw.
I have a set of sensors sitting at home that I bought when I was back in Ireland (75% cheaper than buying in the US), I will check if they have that metal bracket when I get home from work.

Unfortunately not. The new sensors only have two holes to secure the bracket and do not line up with the chassis mount. I guess land rover figured it was somehow cheaper to create an entire new mould for the sensor and machine the bracket than to just leave things the way they were.

Just bin the bracket, mount the sensor to chassis mount and use your two screws, it will still work, If I remember correctly the last ones I changed did not have a bracket.
This is from the w/s manual, that does not show the bracket.

Can’t you re-drill or file the holes in the car to suit the new sensors without the plate?
Is it possible to move the arm out of the shaft on the new sensors?
Have look at the link below it might help, about 45 seconds in.
It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I seem to recall a TSB or similar document was issued when the new sensor type came in, but cannot find anything yet. Will keep hunting.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Thanks for the suggestions guys but no solution yet.
I can't mount the sensor in any other orientation due to the plug. It simply wont fit, even if i extended the cables.
With the bracket removed, the mounting holes on the sensor are 90° out of position.
I looked at the TB. I dont really get what it wants me to do. It doesnt specify but i think it is referring to the front? Remove the upper pin and replace... its welded.
I'm really at a loss here. Might have to find new original part or try some aftermarket ones.
If im really missing the point here, call me out. cheers
