New D3 Owner ...and so it begins..
Hi everyone- so i've got hold of a 2007 GS 2.7...has a FSH. So i test drove it for an hour, and it was fine...day after i got it home the fun begins.....
So it was cheap, so i dont mind spending a few quid on it to get it right/nice.
Firstly, driving
along, bing bong lights etc... So HTC suspension lowered etc... so read this forum, Saw the brake light/ brake switch may be at fault...Made the wife get out, and drivers side brake light is out. So got home, ordered a new brake light and brake switch, and they are coming tomorrow.
Second- Central locking, dont think i even checked it when i bought the car, but it doesnt work, on both key fobs. So again using this forum , seen about the green splice- so ive taken the sill off and think maybe someones been there before?
Thirdly- not a problem, but anyone know how to get rid of milk? The car was like a farm yard inside, and soneone has spilt a chocolate milkshake...and it was a while ago....I have removed all the seats, and cleaned and shampooed, but ill probablly get a new carpet!!
So my question ( for now ), if the passenger side green splice has been done before, would you do it again? or is there anything else i can look at? ( apart from fob batteries? as i think the car was sat for a few months )
Thanks in advance- youll probably here quite a lot more from me....
( ive got to check the battery for voltage tomorrow, incase the brake bulb/switch is not the problem )

Welcome!
I had water ingress in the integrated transfer case (behind the Engine ECU) causing the HDC fault...
Bad battery can also cause the “fault”. Reasons can be....... well “a lot”
Regarding “milk”
Bacteria or enzymes...... the use them in the interiour / car cleaning world...
Give them 24h or maybe 2 x 24h and it did solves a lot of smells in motors i bought in the past...Best regards
Harold

Changed the brake switch and bulb today- so hopefully that will sort it out- tested battery and its running at 14.8 v when running. Found a new carpet so going to pick that up as old carpet just stinks of old milk and is stained all the way through to the foam. For the central locking- is there a green splice on both sides of the car? Or just passenger side?

To test battery you need to check its resting voltage, ie leave it over night then check it without waking the car up.
12.6volts is perfect, then it is a sliding scale downwards from there, bit like owning a land rover really!

Battery tested at 12.49V
I noticed as its raining- and the water was dripping behind the fuse box as the rubber wasnt pushed in- when i pushed it in, it then came off further down by the headlight
What should i be looking for , as in what damage can the water do behind the battery/fuse box, incase thats the problem with the suspension lowering.bong bong fault after 10 miles or so of driving? As i havent driven it yet since changing the brake switch and bulb, as ive taken the seats out , as getting a new carpet tomorrow..

Check the radiator overflow bottle as the picture makes it look empty

Remove the rubber seal, and refit it so the gap is at the front on top of the radiator, gap will eb about 2 inches, causes no harm.
I assume when new there is no gap, and the rubber shrinks with time.
12.49 volts is okay, was the car totally shut down?

Do you have to perform a battery adaptation on these when you fit a new battery?
