I can see the clutch registering 0-100% on its position, this measurement is on the EPB module. It seems that i might have a connectivity issue between the EPB and other systems (or other system(s) not seeing the EPB module).
Seeing as the fault code is the EPB not getting an ignition signal im going to check the IGN and Key In wires on the EPB connector this weekend. fuse 40 & 41 are supplying power in the central fuse box so i want to confirm this power is getting to the EPB itself.
Then its a case of looking at the gearbox loom to check nothing got broken when i got caught up during engine removal.
This does seem like a data link issue (can bus).

Possibly mikey, but its a huge coincidence if it is. it was all working fine when it was parked up to have the engine removed and from the first turn of the key with replacement engine its shown a 'Parking Brake Fault' message and amber EPB warning light (before it even turned a wheel).
Will be checking the rear wiring and checking the EPB is getting the ignition signals at the weekend.
On further looking this evening many of the modules are showing a DTC code saying lost communication with parking brake module. Definitely a communication issue somewhere with the EPB.

If you get one comms error it is normal for it to spread to any other related module. (Bus) Basically if one related module goes down they all do on that bus. Check the block connector you might be surprised!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

That particular wiring circuit is fed from.the CJB (fuse box) through the inside of the car, where it exits through the floor of the car, in the vicinity of the rear connector blocks
It is sheer coincide, and was probably already damaged before the engine replacement, but after being off the road, corrosion took it 1 step.further and is now open circuit My D3 Build Thread

Well guys, as always you were 100% correct, it was the Green/White 'Key In' wire that had worn through on the body side of the rear plug, repaired the wire and protected the wires from further wear. all errors gone away.
I cant believe the coincidence of that failing completely in the several weeks its been off the road having the engine overhaul.
