EGR valve changed what next?
Hi
Just had my EGR changed at local stealers but the car is still giving me problems although no warning lights.
It's sluggish to pull off in 1st gear and sometimes I get a random judder in 2nd gear. There's also lag between 1500-2000rpm. Say, i'm doing 60mph and then take my foot off the accelerator for a bit and then put my foot back down on accelerator I get lag.
The only thing I can do myself as I know all about engines is to clean the MAF sensor which I'm going to do tomorrow with some Wynn's cleaner. I also read about a MAP sensor, is this the same as the MAF. Are the there terms used interchangeably?
Any idea's or is it a case of back to the garage?
Cheers

Hiya
The map ( Manifold absolute pressure ) and maf ( mass air flow ) are different sensors
Would start with the Map sensor which sits in top of the throttle body as that is the one that normally blocks up , indeed best to use the correct cleaner , ie, Egr , electrical spray , plse if I may add don’t be tempted to put anything down the sensors hole as ur damage it, just squirt some cleaner into it , then clean off the carbon that normally has accumulated around the Map sensor
Inside of the throttle body can also be full of crud
Also ensure ur air and fuel filters have been replaced and are of good quality , ie mahle , oem genuine,
particularly important with the fuel filter
Ref judder , can be many things , but check out the rear propshaft centre bearing is ok , pic below
Plse give the MAP sensor a good clean first and then see how it is after that , hope that helps

you may want to change the gearbox oil. Worth doing anyway.
I wounder if it's the torque convertor giving judder. But expensive to change on a whim.
They are turbo cars, so some lag is to be expected.
Maybe add some wynns vvt cleaner to the fuel tank

Hi Pete
Many thks as didn’t realise the torque convertor can cause judder , thought it was just the revs increasing like a slipped clutch

Thks again

Hi
Thanks for the info. I'll have a go at cleaning the both the MAF and MAP then. Can I use the cleaner I already have to clean the MAP sensor (Its Wynns Diesel EGR)? Says its for air intake, inlet valves, turbo, air flow sensor and egr system).
Seen some info where they use break/carburetor cleaner for the MAP.
Thanks

Personally I'd have blanked the EGR on a 2009 and not replaced it and then got Bell Auto Services to "delete" it electronically for good order...and maybe treated it to a remap too...transforms the car within tolerance Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Well lads got the gear to do it all. Going to do the MAF/MAP sensors.
Opened up bonnet and my engine and battery/fuses box covers are missing after being at Lookers last week!!!
Couldn't get through on phone so drove over there and they can't find them. Tbf to Richard he's going to get replacements for me but still shouldn't happen.

That's unacceptable incompetence and speaks to a very careless attitude. Makes you wonder what else they "forgot" to put back! yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

My engine warning light is back on. Wife has the car today but when she gets back I'm cleaning the MAF. Did the MAP this morning and it was quite mucky.
It did cross my mind how the hell would I know if the EGR was changed? I wouldn't have a clue unless I took to another garage to check.... being a bit paranoid now.

Right, cleaned the MAF sensor this morning and the car seems to be driving normally.
As this is a 5 minute job I feel the garage should of done this in the first place.
