Yes the brake fluid. The problem only appeared last year when it started getting hot in the summer. The brakes would disappear within 3 to 5 seconds of hard braking down a slope. Bloody scary.

For the sake of a bottle of brake fluid, may as well rule that out.

That is pretty much what's happening
If you brake gently going down hill and then want to stop halfway down the pedel is solid and you almost have to 2 foot it to stop
If the brakes are not upto scratch then its going to have to go I cant risk it with the mrs and daughter dragging two horses around .
I'm off work tomorrow so I'll bleed all the fluid out first and have a look .
Did you use the diagnostics tool to bleed it out or do it the old fashioned way of pumping up with an assistant while releasing the fluid.

Mine had recent fluid and still bad in hills

You are meant to use class6 fluid in these.

I emptied the reservoir, filled it up with fresh fluid, then opened each bleed nipple one at a time and pumped the pedal until fresh fluid came out. As long as you have a bit of clear hose on the nipple, you shouldn't get air in there.

I have never heard of class 6 fluid . Is it the low viscosity DOT 4 ?

It’s dot 4. Class 6 is for systems with electronic activation. Halfords sell it.

The fade occurs when going up and down hills. Working them more than normal.

As I said you can get up grades for not much money. I don’t have them so can’t connent

I used to tow a lot with my D3 up and down hills around Bath towing plant, our caravan on trips away, a car trailer and also in the Alps towing my boat to Lake Garda or events around Europe.

I never had any issues with brake fade before or after I did the V8 upgrade, but the V8 upgrade is worth doing. Its not expensive and you can get the parts from Advanced Factors. Thumbs Up

Thanks for that.
I'll look into the v8 upgrade shortly
I've just changed out the servo and the master cylinder the pump seems to pull a reasonable vac and I'm just waiting for the kandrover indy to open up to pick up some class 6 fluid to run through it and refill the system .
In honesty the way its was/is is pretty dangerous and in all my years I've never seen the issues this has had with the brakes LR have been no use at all they say they fulfilled the obligation by the first recall which is true to a point but not really if it was not done correctly or failed at a later date
Shocking really
