Will Disco4 front brakes (calipers/discs) fit a Disco 3.

Hi
I just watched a youtube clip and found a full kit for brembo like brakes for a discovery3/4 for £895 for everything.
However reading down the requirements it states 20" wheels.
I only have 19" wheels.
So i'm asking do discovery 4 brakes (360mm rotors and calipers/carriers) fit a discovery 3 with 19" wheels?
I currently have the V8 upgrade (330mm) but these are still smaller than the Disco4's

Any idea of cost?

Do you have a link to the Brembo Like brake kit?

Is it an upgrade for D4 rather than actual D4 brakes.

Price seems a bit steep, if it is standard D4.

D4 standard brakes, they will bolt straight on. Needs 19" wheels minimum. Disc backplates are too small on D3, so need removed or replaced with D4 items

Not an upgrade for D4, that would need Brembo calipers or 6 pots, as per link. 20" wheels are required, as well as bigger backplates again Thumbs Up

Hi all again
just looked on AF site and not sure what to order as they have 2 different discs 604 and 624
Same for all the other bits any ideas on the parts I need as no sizes of the discs
I need all the bits for the 360mm brakes
I have emailed AF but just pointed me to the d4 brake page.
Could you list all the part numbers you used to upgrade yours please.
Many thanks F

614 is V8 upgrade
624 is D4/4 pot Brembo

Brembo?

On your last post you said the D4 calipers are brembo they look the same as d3/d4 ie 2 pot not 4 or 6 pot.
if they are brembo they are very cheap at AF £69.

Looking at AF i think i can upgrade my brakes from d3 V8 330mm to d4 360mm for :-

2x calipers £69 x 2 =£138
discs and pads (disk and pads are bigger) £150
2x carriers £90
2x back plates £80
4 x copper washers £1

total £461

I am in the process of doing this same upgrade to my D3. AF web site lists two different backplates for the D4 according to chassis numbers. The bit that is confusing me though, is the earlier D4 one states in the spec that it is for Armoured version only. The later one from chassis number EA onwards is for the same diameter discs in the spec.

Am i to assume i can use these later backplates? Hoping so, as they are £25 a side cheaper!

Flapper,

I may be interested in your v8 set if you do upgrade. I have standard D3 brakes and I'm not happy with the performance but I want to keep the 18 wheels. Let me know if you do the upgrade and want to sell the old parts. Cheers

Thank you

Disco_Mike
Thank you for you info I will be doing this upgrade.
I'm very surprised that it's not a kit and more people a re doing it.

Went for a spin in a rrs with bremos on they were amazing as it made the abs come on, this has never happened on my disco3 even with v8 upgrade and green stuff pads.
Looking back if I never got in the rrs I would be a richer man.
Sham about only having 19 inch wheels but this seems a good compromise and cheap too.
