Water damage has caused park brake and transmission faults |
|
Hi all. So it seems that when one inadvertently leaves the sunroof open and it pours it down with rain, the central console can flood with water. Who'd have thought it?
Having dried out the area where various bundles of wires are housed with a sponge the dashboard states that there remains a transmission fault and a park brake fault. The 'P' light is flashing and, although the car drives normally and the
Park brake works (albeit with the P flashing) the gear selection light is stuck on D suggesting the electrics are having difficulty telling up from down.
I am hoping that as it dries out of will return to normal but fear this may be wishful thinking. Has anybody experienced similar?

Yep, they do not like water in the centre console. Lots of connections in there. It may pay to take out the centre console and really dry it out in there. Then should be back to square one.

Yup, I've taken the console out and it's driying out. The 'transmission fault' warning has gone but the park brake one is still there. Fingers crossed once it all dries it'll be ok.

I had to replace the PCB in the hand brake area after cleaning fluid seeped in.
