[Air suspension / D3] Front-left airspring leaking air

Dear all,

A couple of days ago I have noted that the front-left airspring in my D3 is most probably leaking air. There are no errors on the dashboard (and no errors via my ELM327), but after 12-24 hours of parking, the front-left end seems to be significantly lower than the others. After an engine start and during the ride everything goes back to normal.

Given the above, I would like to ask a couple of questions:
- I assume that it does not necessary need to be an airspring itself - hoses and seals could be the reason as well, is that correct?
- are there any schemes showing how the airspring is connected to the rests of the air suspension system?
- is there any DIY method to identify the issue before I will go to the mechanic? Would "soap&watar" make sense? Do you have any tips how to identify the leakage?

Furthermore, since there are two mechanics I use:
- the one I know and trust better, very solid, but does not have IID (or anything comparable, LRs are not in his focus),
- the other one, which I barely know, but has IID,
would replacement of the airspring or any other fixes to the air suspension would require IID (i.e. to depressurize the system)? Or everything can be done without diagnostic tool?

Thank you in advance!

Leaks can be found with soapy water. As it is one side only I would suspect the valves on the rear of the front bumper leaking rather than the leg itself. Replacement of the seals is an easy fix for the average DIY person. Kits are available.

I had this on my previous D3 and spent ages trying to find a leak. In the end used the spray stuff plumbers use for detecting gas leaks and it showed straight away that the leak was from the top of the spring so a whole new unit fitted and problem solved.
