Why don't you phone the garage and ask them to fit an extended neck towball, they are only about £25 for a genuine ALKO or £12 for a pattern part and it a ten minute job to swap them over. Out of curiosity, did you request that the drop plate wasn't fitted ? If the drop plate is fitted, then there is no need for the thick spacer Thumbs Up

It may be OK without the drop plate, but I can't confirm that.

Thanks all, I was given a plate with it but ford(don't ask!) told me that it wasn't needed on a disco
What I didn't do prior to removal of old Swan neck was measure the height, if any one could confirm their height to me to top of ball that would be great
Oh and I have ordered an alko ball
