Intercooler Pipe, Brake Fluid & Coolant |
|
Hi all,
Took my disco in for a mend as it has been a bit smokey on acceleration and also had the warning ‘transmission fault, limited gears available’ came up a few times, and I’d have to restart the car to sort it out.
I just wanted a sanity check on the costing below based on work required.
The bloke doing it is fantastic and I have use of a courtesy car, but I’ve read that the pipe change can be a quick 15 minute job.
Feedback is: determined that the coolant and brake fluid really do need changing now. The brake fluid is hydroscopic which means that it attracts moisture. As soon as it has enough moisture, the brakes' effectiveness will be impacted.
In addition, diagnosed that the turbo intercooler pipe has split. This is the cause of the restricted performance fault and smoke.’
Cost for remedy:
Intercooler Pipe £67.98
Brake Fluid £78.00
Coolant £92.00
We anticipate approx 4hrs labour for the above work.

I’m sure you could do the coolant yourself and it costs less than £25.
I would expect the price of the brake fluid to include labour. At a dealers it would.
Brake Fluid costs £15 ish.
