Yes, it tells me to put the gearbox into neutral to select low range, even though it is. I'm wondering if it needs a XY calibration? Although everyone seems to do them in low range to make it easier.

So is it still not working now the wires are sorted? Have you reset the ECU since sorting the wires?

I've reset the faults with an IID, but not calibrated the XY yet. I'm wondering if the cable has come apart from the splice?

Possible I guess, but i wouldn't have thought a factory splice would come apart that easy.

First splice by trash can symbol on my screenshot, is where landrover splice it before the transmission control module
Have u got one a bit more zoomed in more on the bottom part with pins and splice please? I'm going to print it all out and have a go on Saturday

Ok, so we traced the wiring issue to the two blue and red wires (pins 6 and 2) on the gearbox sensor getting swapped over when we repaired the plug/wires. (You can get plugs online, but beware, the locating notch can be on the left or right side).
We continuity tested successfully, all the pins on the gearbox sockets back to the plug that goes into the TCCM in the engine bay.
I now have low range again, and it drives fine, but I only get an N on the dash and N on the 4x4 display on the screen. I tried to calibrate it, went in reverse fine with a small r, and beep. But then never shows anything other than N.
Using my iid tool, both xy have a live value of 2.1 volts, but never changes from that. Ocassionally the little n on the speedo flickers.
Does anyone have any info on the xy sensor itself?
Any ideas?

It was just the single plug that got damaged on the top when we lowered the gearbox (on that auction, the one at the top right of the picture). It's funny I know all those cables/plugs off by heart now
I reckon it would be curse word getting that lot into position.
The thought did cross my mind though

I have a feeling my xy sensor is kaput. The disco drives fine, but only displays n or occasionally flashes off. It does detect reverse, but no forward gears. (so calibration not possible) but I also tried calibration via iid.
Does anyone have any experience of faulty xy sensors?
