New LR3 owner trying to get the kinks worked out
Ok, so just bought a 2006 LR3 v6 for the wife, got it knowing it needed some work. So far I've been making good headway.
My question is in regards to the AC system. It appears that my compressor is non functional? I've never dealt with an always on variable AC compressor.
1. When I start the vehicle I it appears that the front of the AC Compressor pulley doesn't spin? Is that normal or does that indicate the frangible link has broken?
2. I hooked up a can of Freon to a hose with a gauge to the low side. Looks like I have 90psi in the system. That pressure doesn't waiver a bit, LR3 running or not.
3. IIDTool shows the same info, and motor amps a 0.
Anybody have luck with the UAC kit from Rockauto?
I got the IIDTool and hooked it all up, cleared the mountain of faults but I got two that resurface right away and was curious if someone could walk me through decoding them. I've got the service manual.

If pulley does not turn Compressor is seized and belt should squeal.

I have this on my 2005 TDV6, it also won't reset with iid tool, I read here that also many others have the same thing, basically it can safely be ignored.

so it thinks it has pressure.
But no compressor current.
1) check the eco light isn't lit on the panel
2) check compressor wiring
3) check compressor electrical resistance

1) I have checked this, and cycled it to see if there is any change in the system. No change.
2) I've confirmed that the two pin connector is mated, and done a visual check. I believe that those two wires have a 400hz PWM signal which my digital multi meter cannot read. Is there another check you had in mind? Or maybe I need to find an oscilloscope?
3) What value should I expect to find? Shorted, or a certain ohm range?Some of my favorite times are in the shop working on cars with the wife and kids helping!

I don’t know the exact ohms. 5 ish?
Obviously if it was open circuit that would be a problem
I’m out of ideas. Not sure if there is a fuse

Hi, are you aware of the difference between the V6 4.0 Ford engine on the Base LR3 Compared to the LR3 with the 4.4 V8 Jag Engine. The V6 was put on the lowest end LR3. The V6 engine is a Ford Ranger/Explorer type engine. Not the most reliable engine. The V8 4.4 is a great engine very reliable. The V6 has issues with the timing chains and to replace them the engine needs to be taken out of the truck. if you hear a rattle on start up that means timing chains are off. The V8 4.4 Jag does not suffer from that fate.
