Another P081C Park input circuit question |
|
I've done a search here but did not find much specific to my issue. The complete code is P081c-00(6D), park input circuit. Upon moving the shift selector from the park position I get an immediate "transmission fault" message. In normal mode the transmission then behaves as it should, however I am unable to select sport mode or command shift. Side lights on or headlights on makes no difference.
However, If I put the shift selector in neutral and then start the car, I get no message and I am able to select sport mode and command shift. From my reading on this fine forum there seem to be several potential issues including a binding pivot where the shift cable meets the gearbox (my shift mechanism shifts very smoothly and readily with no binding) a bad electrical splice (lights on has no effect on mine) or the shift selector assembly. The shifter assembly is my suspicion, but it seemingly works perfectly aside from moving from the park position. Are there any other associated parts I should be evaluating?

well its either the shifter assembly, or the expensive bit in the gearbox.
I guess
Looking at the diagram, there is a "P lock confirmation" signal from the selector. on a green wire,
It's hopefully that.

Thank you Pete, will check out the green wire. What's the expensive bit in the gearbox you mentioned?

Hey Cabell,
I have the exact same issue and code, did you ever find a solution?
