Discovery 4 FULL DASH TRANSPLANT into a Discovery 3!
So I have some time on my hands and have both a nice working D3 and a recently purchased smashed up D4 (No airbags deployed). As I'm at a lose end for a week or so I was thinking about stripping the D3 interior dash, radio centre console the lot out and swapping it for the D4 dash, sat nav stereo etc. My question is although i'm sure it would fit and I know the satnav is definitely possible. Will the FM radio and cd player work as theses, I believe, are separate units from the sat nav much as they are in the D3?
Does anyone know if this would work? Happy to supply photos when I start..

Don’t the bits you’re adding work on a different CANBUS speed from the rest of the car?
Asked as a compete non techie and usually barking up completely the wrong tree.

Waaaaaaaay above my paygrade, all I remember is the CANBUS on the D3 is different speed from the D4, and it all goes through the HVAC in the dash. Best wait for a techie dude to confirm or scupper my thoughts.

Its mainly the radio I'm concerned about... most of the buttons on the dash could certainly be modified to work I guess?

No, probably not if the steering wheel mod is anything to go by.
That involves swapping circuit boards for purpose built ones due to the switch resistances being totally different and the switch lighting alone took Black Box plenty of investigative checking which took quite some considerable time.
Good luck with it, I personally think you're up against it. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.

Hi,
Yes it did and most of it fits! the center console, glove box, dash board etc all went straight in. I had to stop at adding the radio and other controls for climate etc as they run a faster CANBUS or something so plugs where diffrent. I'd be intereted to know if you can buy adapters as i still have all the bits to finish it.
