D3 Drive train
Hopeing you guys in the know can help me out again
My brothers D3 05my has a very bad whinging-gumbling on deceleration on acceleration not really noticeable but as I say slowing down sounds really noisy all bearings ok all rubbers ok so leads me to think front or rear diff crown wheels or pinions also could the transfer box make this kind of noise or worse still something deeper down in the gearbox (auto) hopefully taking it to a friends garage Saturday or Sunday to put on the ramp soas we can run it up and have a listen underneath instead of hanging out the window trying to ascertain where the noise is coming from so if anyone’s had this problem or can give me some pointers I would be very great full
Regards George
When mine had a similar noise it was the front diff (It may not help you much)The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

Drain the oil from the front Diff, you'll soon know if it was that! I'm doing a diff swap at the moment.

Decided to look at the front diff Saturday as from older vehicles I’ve had that’s what it sounded like
So to start with drain and refill diff well rrhool you thought yours was bad my brother had nearly half as much again on his plug and the oil well that was like panning for silver but as it’s only making a noise on deceleration decided to clean refill and add some thickening agent and start looking fo another diff 🤔
