Upgrading from a Freelander2
Afternoon,
Currently a Freelander 2 owner, but upgrading to a D3 or D4 within the next month (ish). Have loved the Freel, but need the ability of the extra seats. Been through all the 7 seat wannabe's (XC, Q7,etc) but decided to stick to my first choice.
My budget is £12k inc. car tax, give or take. Need towbar.
Quite a few on Autotrader, and I will travel to wherever it is.
A blue 08 D3 SE @ £9.5k with 91k (peterborough), and a silver 59 D4 GS @ £10.5k (Bedford) have caught my eye. Both have full service history, inc belts and pump. Allows for a little additional expenditure.
D4 says SDV6 on advert, but not sure as parkers says that didn't come out until 10 plate.
Will try and view both in the same day, as I have to travel from Bath anyway. My gut says D4, but head says D3.
Anybody know if these are known on the forum?
Any thoughts, and guidance appreciated

Wherever you buy from, FSH and overall condition / evidence of luurvv is more important than age / mileage.

Got to say the D4 in the pic looks so much more modern compared to the D3.

My inclination is to go for the youngest vehicle, and in this case the D4 is a refinement of the D3 with many of the gremlins ironed out. The 3.0 engine in particular is an improvement over the 2.7.
Depending on the age of your Freebie, it ought to feel familiar as the later FL2s had a very similar dashboard arrangement to the D4, and the earlier ones like the D3 - albeit with simpler Terrain Response and no suspension height adjustment.Gordon

Thanks. Got an 07 Freel, so the layout is identical to the D3.
I do think the D4 looks nicer, just really like the blue, with cream leather of this D3.
