Thanks.I've read on one of the threads that there is a joint in the loom that gets corroded and this is the motor supply. The n/s chassis rail loom is jointed with another supply but I don't know where this join is or where it comes from?.

Its a 2006 2.7tdv6 manual.Just a thought when I picked it up I was told that the rear lower lights were not working could this be linked?.

Sounds like you found a good thead similar to yours.

Yes 2 green/yellow wires join to 1 somewhere (at the back I guess)

You said you found a connector in the wheel arch and cleaned it.
Did it have the thick green/yellow? That sounds like another good point to test. (to understand where the fault could be)

Don't know what " rear lower lights" are. If you mean brake lights, that is normal

The thick green/yellow wire was on a separate plug to the smaller wires and used a very substantial blue plug and socket. These are located under the nsf wheel arch cover at the lower rear of the arch.Ive just printed off the wiring diagram and the spliced joint is marked as SJ406 then it feeds the parking brake module by two separate pins on the plug.

exactly.

So if its dry, you need to get outside with your tester and see if it has power on it

I've managed to get under the disco and there is a good supply voltage on the green and yellow wires while plugged in and operating the epb switch. The joint in question looks like it was heat shrunk with the glue lined sleeve so I can only presume the joint as been re done .So back to square one on this one. Thanks for all your suggestions.
