D3: how the hell to refit CJB |
|
Hi all,
So, having sorted my D3 with a new sunroof drain, trying to refit the CJB.
Cannot for the life of me get the electrical connectors at the back of the unit into their sockets.
Anyone got any tips or advice how to do this?
And it’s snowing. And the sunroof is open.
Thanks

The cjb is a pig to get back in.
I tried for a hour or so recently and couldn’t get the rear plugs in.
In the end I took out the relays to give me a little more room and pulled the cjb as far forward as I could.
This just gives enough room to get the rear plugs in.
Stick with it, it will go in eventually. D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.

Someone on here once described it as hard enough to make a Nun curse. Hopefully the advice above will help you

Aye, well thanks!
It was a to get back in. Took over an hour.
We took out the lower most relay for a bit of extra room.
We also found that the latches on the plugs need to fully pushed back to their locked open position to allow the lock pins to cleanly enter the socket or it just doesn’t fit in.
We started with the green one, nearest the passanger door, and found that with the junction box low and slightly rotated anti-clockwise, it went in.
For the orange one, closest to centre console, the junction box needed to be rotated back and pushed up so the the locating pins were in their sockets, and then the bottom edge of the box pulled forward. This allowed the orange plug to be socketed.
Remarkably the car started ok so doesn’t look like any cables have been fractured in the process.
Was seriously cursing landrover design engineers right then.
As it was, if it was not for a friend, who managed most of the sockets, I would be without my disco right now!

Having also sworn at this job, I reckon when they built the D3, they start with the CJB at the beginning of the production line and build the vehicle around it.
