Slow Rear Wiper.

When using my rear wiper (on the car!!!) ie the standard wipe without wash, it is very sluggish , even on a wet rear screen. If I use the wash / wipe mode, the wiper springs into action and is much faster.

Is this normal?

Seems to be random - I'm sure mine is like this at times, but not every time

The rear wiper on my D4 is slower than the one on my D3. Whether that’s “normal” or not I don’t know....but it is painfully slow sometimes Wink Thumbs Up

On my D4 it is sometimes slower than others. I'm sure It ties in with the voltage that battery is running at. I keep a voltmeter plugged into the accessory socket, and the smart charging will see voltages from just over 12, to 15+ depending on temperature, soc of the battery, and whether it's accelerating or braking.

I'm sure the wiper speed is relational to it!

Concern
Land Rover have received a small number of Customer complaints that the Rear Wiper Motor on Range Rover Sport 12 MY (Part No. LR029777) and Discovery 4 /LR4 12MY (LR029682) is slow to operate compared to previous Model year derivatives
.
Conclusion
The Rear Wiper Motors were changed to a different supplier at 12MY for Range Rover Sport and Discovery 4 /LR4, the operating speed was changed at this time, this does not affect the Wipers performance. The cycles per minute have changed from 40+-5 Cycles Per Minute to 30+- 4 CPM with no detriment to performance This is not a vehicle defect and parts replacement is not required.

Part numbers affected are
LR020111
LR029319
LR029682
LR029777

Thumbs Up You learn something everyday.

I tell you what I do miss from my D3 days, the wiper would automatically switch to constant on at higher speeds in heavy rain.

D4 just goes slower than the S3, and intermittent only, with no constant on.

Lubricate the pin on which arms pivots so you can pull the blade and arm away from the rear window and have the spring return it with a snap as it should. Cures many of these issues. WD40 it if you must or something better.
