Been quoted £819 all in by a local Indie.
Think the compressor is £700 and something inc vat, although they can be had for cheaper that was the price of a genuine compressor from a local dealer although he did offer a discount as I am a good customer.

Genuine AMK compressor from Craddocks, inc VAT £598.80 + fitting or DIY, don’t know exactly how long it would take, probably guesstimate an hour ish. Cheaper on fleabay but wouldn’t trust them.

Well local stealer called to say new compressor installed and just waiting for new EPB module, should be ready for Tuesday. When SWMBO was talking with them over the phone she asked what was the price tag £1900 Sooooooo pleased I took LR extended warranty, still can't believe so much going wrong 2 months out of manufactures warranty 24MY X-Dynamic HSE Defender 110.

Good that its covered by the warranty, just goes to show 3yrs and 2 months, youd have thought it would have lasted longer, something to look forward to

A quick up date on the EPB, the Module is goosed and has been changed. The reason it failed is the shoes had seized so the extended warranty authorised new shoes and discs as consequential damage BUT the new pads would be at my cost (old ones 25% wear) so the whole cost to me £165.85, my argument is the only reason for new pads is new discs and the only reason for new discs is the new shoes causing damage! Am I being a tight for not wanting to pay for new pads? The car had its three year service in September why have the shoes seized??
Any thought welcome.
Regards,
Chris. 24MY X-Dynamic HSE Defender 110.

I think it would be very rare for the garage to remove the discs to check the condition of the shoes unless specifically requested, if the EPB is / was working its left at that but the adjustment should have been checked and adjusted, if the shoes were seized this would not have been possible and the fault should have been noted then but this might have been put down as wear and tear therefore you may have been liable for the whole cost, maybe the small amount you have to pay is acceptable. However, as the pads, calipers etc would have to be dismantled to remove the discs and then reassemble the labour costs already taken care of, i reckon it that case your only liable for the cost of the pads themselves and possibly the fitting kit, don’t know the exact cost but around £40 should do it.
If the vehicle is used in extreme conditions the discs / shoes should be checked more often.

Thanks OJ, you are right it is a small part of what will be a £2500 claim but if you don’t ask you won’t get. I’ve sent a nice email saying that I would have thought new pad would be part of fitting new discs, if they don’t go for that we will pay for the new pads..
I must say it’s the first time I have claimed, Land Rover and Peter Vardy have been great we have yet to get the disco back and do the inspection - initial impressions have been very positive. 24MY X-Dynamic HSE Defender 110.

SWMBO picked up the disco from Peter Vardy this evening and is well chuffed 👍 they didn’t go for the “new pads are part of the new discs” so the final bill was £87.84 inc VAT, £62.50 for pads and £10.70 for disc wear wire. As said in previous post my first experience with extended warranty, well worth the £164 I’ve paid so far😁 24MY X-Dynamic HSE Defender 110.
