Terrain response

I have not had the benefit of off road driving instruction in a D3 and am finding terrain response system a bit of a dissapointment.

When engaging GGS for slippery off road conditions the reduction in throttle response seems to be excessive and forward motion limited to crawling spoeed and requiring 1st gear (high range) most of the time

Am I doing something wrong or expectimg too much ?

The whole point of GGS is to help you avoid wheel spin by retarding the throttle (amongst other things).

If you feel its hampering progress and you can safely turn it off... thats up to you.

I used it for a number of hours last year on a 6 hour journey in the snow. Didn't have to stay in 1st but TBH slow progress in slippery conditions is far better than fast progress with your wheels spinning all over the place Thumbs Up

There's only one outcome if you can get up to a high speed in slippery conditions and then can't stop . . . .

I would suggest a little training or join in one of the many events organised on here. I find that with understanding, the TR system is fantastic.

Thumbs Up It is a very good introduction. If you can ask to "upgrade" to a full day. Will be a well worth the cost as the 1/2 day is aimed at pre-purchase.

Sounds like you already own a D3 so you will benefit from the further instruction.

Enjoy.

Ive got a i/2 day to be taken soon - they wouldn't allow upgrades to a full day...that is over the phone to the central booking place & the actual centre....but you may be you may be able to arrange when your there

A couple of years ago you could upgrade - for 50 pounds approx

The 1/2 day is supposed to be an introduction of the chosen vehicle to a potential buyer usually handed out by the dealers.

A full day is actual training either Level 1 or Level 2. The 1/2 day has got nothing to do with the training days.

Hence try and go for a full day. I had a half day and to be fair the guy cut the sales intro and we had a half day training - he didn't care he was being paid either way Thumbs Up

There is ALWAYS an option to upgrade to a full day's training from a 1/2 day 'experience'...
failing that, sign up for one of the Disco3 training days, There are at least three LRE instructors available on here Wink
