Variable pressure applicator vs. Scissor type remover

I changed the tie rods and tie rod ends recently, and after a brief moment of elation concluded that I also now need to replace both lower wishbones at the front. I brake hard and the steering wheel pulls to the left. That's not cool.

So question is. If I am to reuse the tie rod ends, can I still hit them with a hammer?
