Harness chafing behind the battery
I guess this only affects left hand drive D3s... Maybe right hand drive if they're symetrical.
The other day on the way home from work, my D3 just cut out. I had time and space to pull off the road to have a look. A couple of fuses had blown - the big fusible links. When I replaced them (stolen off less essential circuits because, of course, I had no spares!) they blew immediately again...
Luckily, I saw the problem. The battery negative terminal had rubbed through a couple of wires on the big loom under the scuttle panel. By making a bit of space, I managed to get running and make it home.
I'm lucky because it shorted out a main power feed. I hate to think what would have happened and how hard it would have been to find if it was the Canbus...
