N95 & bluetooth in Disco3 |
|
Hi
New to this forum and have found it very useful.
I have just collected by new Discovery 3 commercial and I am havnig trouble with my Nokia N95 and the personal telephone integration with bluetooth. The first time I pair the N95 (after having turned it off and removed the battering for a few minutes) in my Disco both devices connect perfectly and everything seems to work fine but when I leave the vehicle the next time I come back the two devices connect and I get the little car symbol on the display of my phone but if I try and make or receive a call I cannot hear anything in the bluetooth and I have to actually select to take the call in my handset in order to be able to hear the call. My father recently bought a new Range Rover Sport V8 Diesel and I seem to have no trouble whatsoever using the phone over bluetooth in his car.
Has anyone had this problem or can anyone offer any advice on how to get the bluetooth kit and N95 working together in the vehicle as it should.
The vehicle is booked into the dealer on Thursday to take a look but they are not giving me any confidence that they will be able to solve the problem.
Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from you.
David

Hi Mactwo...and welcome
Do you have LR PTI ? i.e. controls on the steering wheel for voice activation and a red and green button with phone symbols on? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi DG
Yes I do have factory fitted LR PTI with voice activation and the phone buttons on the steering wheel and so does my father's RR Sport.

Hmm.... strange I have an N95 and it works flawlessly with the PTI...pair via 2121 and then 'set as authorised' on the hand set and away you go. If thats not working maybe try a different handset to test ...if it still doesn't work then it could be back to the stealers 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I have paired them all as you suggest......it is strange and driving me mad !! My N95 is unbranded but I have also tried another unbranded one with the same firmware version as mine and a Vodafone branded one which both have the same problem. I even went to the extreme of restoring my phone to factory standard in case I had changed some obscure setting or something.
Thanks

So when you pull the voice button and say 'phone ...dial name' what happens then? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I haven't actually tried dialing through the voice software yet. After all the process I described before when I can get it to work I have used it by dialing via the handset or by using the phone controls via the stereo and dialing a number and then pressing the green phone button on the steering wheel. Its the next time I come back to the car that the 2 devices connect fine but if I try and make a call via the stereo and then press the call button on the stereo or the steering wheel nothing happens. I can however make a call by doing it on my phone but it will not come through the bluetooth even though they are connected I have to press the handset button on my phone to hear the call. I am running out of ideas and the only thing I can think of is that because the car is only 3 days old maybe it has a different software/firmware version on the PTI kit than say my dad's RR Sport has or that there is simply a fault with the kit in the car?!
I am about to try my brother's Nokia 6300 and see if it does the same thing and I will also try the voice dialing as per your question.
Thanks

Well my bro's 6300 seems to work fine but then it is a listed phone on the LR site! I am still confused though as to why my N95 will work the first time but not on subsequent connections and works fine in my dad's car?! Oh well will have to wait and see what the dealer says on Thursday but they will probably just say its not a listed compatible phone! I really do not want to have to change phones as I really like the N95
Thanks for the invite....I am near Cranleigh in surrey and will come along for sure if work doesn't get in the way.
Btw what firmware do you have on your N95? Is it branded or unlocked?
Thanks

12.01.13 on mine, unbranded. Also worked fine on various previous versions when branded (vodafone). DG has the same firmware on his N95.
Can I just check you have it the car set as authorised on the N95? Obvious I know, but worth a check. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I have an E61 which works.takes calls/dials etc no problem.
But intemittently, I will not hear the other person, they can hear me & the display shows correctly, but I can hear them. If I switch to handset, works on handset ok & the back to BT it then works fine.
Very strange! Did a firmware update on the phine a few minths ago, perhaps there's another update. Will have a look & see what happens. WIll also get LR to do the contact/phonebook TSB 00093 TLO mentioned Bodsys Brake Bible

Yes I do have the car set as authorised on the phone....is that really your firmware version of the phone? Mine is unbranded and is V12.0.013 and I am pretty sure I have the latest version although I dont actually think that is the problem but just wanted to check?
Thanks

Sorry, 12.0.13 I slipped an extra one in there (wahey missus!) I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I had the same problem recently with my both my o2 PDA & N 6300. No audio either way.
While it was at the dealers to get two doors resprayed they checked it over and decided to fit a new phone module for me. Since then it's been fine PLUS I can now access the phones phonebook and a call list..

Thanks for that and the car is booked in on Thursday to be checked out and unless they find another problem I will insist they fit a new phone module! I know the N95 works in other Discos and in various RR Sports! The odd times I get it to work it gives me access to the phones phonebook but not to the call list but to be honest I would happily live without these as long as I can make calls and hear it in the car.
Thanks
