do diesels have knock sensors
never really thought about it til now but do TDI's or any diesel engines for that matter have knock sensors im curious to know

Yes they can and yes they can - including the D3 (item 1):

Interesting, but what does a knock sensor do?- no wise cracks please It can when others can't,

It's a microphone which listens for pre detonation on a petrol car.

it listens for vibrations caused by engine knock and determines whether the spark timing or air fuel ratio needs to be retarded as far as i know
