Power Steering Fluid Change |
|
Being an obsessive oil changer, I am going to change the power steering fluid can anyone recommend a good quality oil to use.
I found this ‘how too’ on youtube looks an easy job (perhaps use some rags to stop the oil going everwhere):

I think that is a V8 petrol so the pipe he removed from pump is not the same on a TDV6.
Did the change on a RRS, used a vacuum oil drainer (used for engine oil change through dipsticks) to remove power steering fluid from reservoir and ran engine for a few seconds so remaining oil pumped to reservoir and refilled with CHF11. Did this twice to make sure most of old oil removed.
Owner of RRS said there was a definite improvement and steering was much smoother.

I used a syringe method as well but i took the reservoir out to clean it. It has a gauze at the bottom and mine was covered in dirt. Gave it a rinse with diesel and used a small thin paint brush to gently clean the dirt away.

I also did as Irwin suggested. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
