Quiz question of the day....

Out of curiosity I am going to quote a famous expression used by a character from a series of books, to see if anyone on here recognises same. If you do recognise what the topic is, feel free to post the answer and to discuss same......!

The quote: "Fossilised fish hooks!".

Same here, remembered it but not who. Having googled it, yeah, I used to love those books when I was a kid, had forgotten all about them.

Ah yes, the Jennings series of books. Can't remember the fella's name who wrote them, but remember reading that he died recently.

*EDIT* It was Anthony Buckeridge, and it wasn't recently at all, but in 2004. Shocked

Congratulations to those who got the answer right!

But seriously, the reason for posting was because I've heard there are plans afoot for a new UK tv series based fairly closely on the entire Jennings series of books, which is great news. I too have long been a fan since my own father gave me the books to read many years ago, and he grew up with them, getting each new one as they came out. Quite what today's youth would make of them with their 1950s setting sans mobile tech etc could be interesting indeed!

It's actually quite difficult to get these books in print these days, I have a set of originals though!
