Made it to the local pub tonight. This pub sits on a crossroads and in the past was the pub, smithy and cattle mart, now just a rundown underused country pub most people probably drive past not even realising it is a pub, it's single sign on the gable wall now fading into obscurity. The entrance is hidden round the back beside which is a sign that says open at 19:00 daily and another advertising homemade pickles and jams! Upon entering you are now totaly convinced you have walked onto the set of The League of Gentlemen. Fire smoke stained ceiling and blackened cobwebs on lights, slight smell of damp and a few interesting characters! In the corner above the bar was a triangular shelf with the aforementioned jams and pickle labelled "Support your corner shop". No till just the drawer from one on the side and if there are more than four of you for food you can choose you own menu (not sure I would want eat there though! Friendly enough and great beer at just £2.50 a pint! And free snacks!
What did we drink, Clun Pale Ale, Sixbells Big Nev and Hobsons Old Henry, great British beers in a proper eccentric British pub.==================================

When the Bath ales gem first came out in cask it was a live beer and just like hand pulled in a pub but the supermarkets wouldn't sell it like that so they killed it for keg and wasn't the same afterwards
I went to the brewery and had a chat with the boss (really nice guy) 8)
I came away with a sample cask too Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Seems a bit odd, as many supermarkets stock Worthingtons White Shield and that is bottle conditioned.

The following day we managed to do three more breweries, Three Tuns and Six Bells in Bishops Castle and Clun in Clun.
Three Tuns the only operational Victorian gravity or tower brewery in Britain....
.... Complete with Morris dancers
Six Bells brewpub.

Their website says the micro cask still a live beer that needs to settle etc. Ocado sell them for £17.95 which is as cheap as I've seen anywhere. It'll be interesting to see how well they travel and settle.
