Steering whine.

Got an intermittent issue with my steering that's developed over the last week.

It will be fine, steer normal and be usual weight.

Then it will whine under load, go really heavy and strain against the wheel.
Happens more at low speeds and turning but it can do it at all speeds.
The whine is the same as the noise you get on full lock. But does it at random points during turning.

Comes and goes, can be fine for miles and whine like hell in a car park or such.

I've checked and topped up the power steering fluid, ( £22 a bottle from LR!! Shocked ), checked all joints, it's had the track rod ends replaced 2 1/2 years ago and the steering inner arms last year for mot.
All items were genuine LR parts.

Any pointers before i start going for the wallet and changing the pump or rack?

Lubricate the UJ on the lower column first. Or replace it, it's the only original part left Whistle
