I have a 2007 D3 that is approaching its 165k service (A).
The engine was replaced by LR for the original owner in July 2012 at 85k when ‘the front of the engine fell off’ according to LR service history on their computer. Car has always been serviced by Barretts LR until now.
I know it is not due a cambelt until 190k based on the engine replacement, but wondered whether I should get it replaced now, along with a new oil pump and all other drive belts and tensioners for good measure whilst having the smaller A-service carried out soon. Alternatively, would there be less duplication of effort if I waited until 180k and the larger B-service?
Barretts have advised this is a body off job, although I know many of you have said it can be done without doing so. If I were to go with them, is there anything else I should get done whilst it has been taken apart? Currently without a Land Rover

Hi, if it has had a replacement Landrover engine, chances are it will have already had the newer type oil pump fitted, easy to check when the covers are off.
Landrover do no state in their workshop manual that this is a 'body off' job, and I can't see a reason to take it off.
Regards
Steve

Thanks Steve.
Must admit I thought they would have done it with body on given all that I had read. On the other hand, this is a keeper and if there were other things that can only be done with it off I would have considered it.
Guess we'll find out which oil pump is fitted when I take it to Geoff for belts etc.
Sounds like a basic A service this time which will keep costs down
Ought to do it myself, but just don't have time. Since dealer is charging reasonable hourly rate in inclined to let them do it and keep up full Lr service history. Currently without a Land Rover
