Water in passenger foot well the morning after a hailstorm
Hi there i went to the disco a few weeks ago and had water dripping into the passenger footwell which i have never had before but the only thing that was different was the weather. The night before we had a mad hailstorm which lasted nearly an hour and left a large amount off hailstone built up at the bottom of the windscreen / scuttle panel.
Under closer inspection it appeared to be coming from above / behind glove box so dropped the glove box and saw water seeping out of the heater box where pollen filter sits.
I removed the pollen filter which was wet & then saw the water dripping in from the outside
I then removed the wipers & scuttle panel etc and straight away revealed what i think is a really bad design fault. The fact that the air intake in the bulkhead protrudes the bottom edge of scuttle panel on one side
I then decided to make a modification using an empty screen wash container.
I cut 1 corner out and added sum double sided trim tape & also a 5mm stainless steel pop rivet with stainless washer either side through a factory hole in the lip.
Anyway after pouring a few pints off water down the windscreen it deflected the water away a treat
After building it all back up it hasn't let any water in since touch wood
Hope this may help other who have had the same problem.

Great idea Rick but you're not the first to do this.
There's at least one other post with photos showing exactly the same as yours complete with a plastic water deflector.

Did you make some space for air to flow in?

Hi only just seen your question sorry. the plastic came up under the metal scuttle panel so not really restricting the air flow in to the car as there is quite a void behind it.

Hi there, I was just looking on this forum for that exact problem, I have got the same fault and have been on the phone to Landrover and there is no cover or tray available to prevent this from happening, does this happen to everyone with a disco 3????? I would have said it does!!!

Hi CDS, there is not water shredder and Landrover haven't a clue about it, the opening pretrudes the screen very slightly, which is allowing the water to get in, any idea on a part number???
