I have just finished fitting new discs/pads and EPB shoes and after careful adjustment, the EPB sounded better than before and worked every time with no squealing.
All seemed well until the bedding in process was started. Every time the vehicle came to a stop, there would be a squeal. The EPB was now worse than before and would lock up but could be released by turning the ignition on with the brake button held down, so not too serious.
I readjusted the brake shoes again and the EPB is now working again. Now that it is working and the 'bedding in' cycle was done, am I correct thinking it is not necessary to do it again?
Do Landrover do this when they build the vehicle, i.e. bed in the brakes??

I'm not sure what exactly goes on with the BIC, but apart from scrubbing in the shoe and drum surfaces, I think it also must settle in all the components, and properly centralise the shoes.
If anything is not spot on on initial assembly, then the initial adjustment would possibly not be correct.
As the BIC progresses, and the various bits sort themselves out, it could take the actuator to the end of its travel, and cause the squeal.
I reckon once the BIC has finished, another adjustment would not be a problem, and I wouldn't think another BIC is necessary.
I stand to be corrected though! And don't over adjust it or you'll cause a bind and overheat the brakes.

As a parking brake I am sure it is. Should you ever need the brake in an emergency fallback mode who knows if it will do the job.
Always worth bedding them in correctly.
