HSE vs XS front seats

After a few long trips in my D4, I have come to the sad conclusion that the front seats are not as comfy as those that were in my D2. The front seats in both cases are leather. The D2 was top of the range with all the toys, but the current D4 is XS. I have heard that the seats in an HSE are nicer than the XS. Is there more to it than the classier leather in the HSE? Are the seat foams, frames or shape different?

Any hints or tips to ensure a comfier seat in the future?

Have just bought a new seat base foam for my D4 GS as like the OP I find the seat uncomfortable compared to the D2 I had for nearly 6 years. Before buying I asked Dan at Duckworths if there were different bases listed for different models - answer was one part number does all. Waiting on a can of high temperature spray adhesive (got heated seats) with the intention of putting the new base foam in this weekend & hoping it works!!

HSE seat has more adjustment available which might be why you can get them to be more comfortable Thumbs Up

I found the seats in my old XS a lot harder than in my HSE - I put it down to the leather being harder in the XS. Leather is more soft and supple in the HSE.

this was one of the reasons we went for HSE over specced up XS. I think the seats are both more adjustable, and a different shape and firmness. In my view, they alone were worth the upgrade.

Saudi Arabia

Both SWMBO and I agreed soon after moving from the D2 to the D4 that the original D2 seats were more comfy, even on a 12 year old car.

For what it's worth, the HSE seats will push me to stretch for an HSE next time - My XS is quite highly specced and (I think) is now only significant spec really missing on mine is the glass roof (no use to me with a full exped rack Laughing ) and heater rear seats. But I do miss my old armchairs Big Cry

Replaced the seat base foam at the weekend and the difference is amazing, I'm no longer lamenting the passing of the D2. Thumbs Up
