Tailgate actuator constant voltage

So after putting up with an intermittent upper tailgate issue (as gone into LOADS on here) I decided it was the microswitch that was at fault.......WRONG Embarassed - changed it yesterday and after working fine the problem returned this morning.

Managed to open the boot and took off the trim panels on the lower section.

Took out the actuator and latch, and discovered the latch mechanism was a little reluctant to release when manually actuating the cable, so cleaned and lubricated it but without making much difference.

As a temporary measure I have attached a manual release cable, but on checking the electrical connector to the actuator discovered it had a small constant voltage across the pins Confused .....is this normal or does it indicate an electrical problem elsewhere?

Ordered a replacement Actuator and latch mechanism today.

Hopefully that will sort the issue out....

....just got a nagging doubt over this constant voltage.

Any ideas???????????

Frenchy,

Got the car back this afternoon, they've replaced both the switch in the tailgate handle & the solenoid inside the tailgate.

Fingers crossed that's sorted it - my guess is the solenoid was the cause of the fault as the switch was replaced just before I bought the car.
