Heated seats leather or cloth?

Any one know what the difference is apart from the price of leather and cloth base heater pads? - can a cloth heater base pad be fitted to a leather seat?
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Can be fitted to cloth seats.

In general, you need heated leather seats, they are always cold. Cloth seats never feel that cold.

Thanks for the reply, I have got leather seats and the pad has failed, two types of replacement pads are available cloth and leather with different part numbers, what is the difference apart from the £50 price tag?- can I fit a cloth pad in a leather seat?

I suspect the difference is the amount of heat produced. Cloth seats won't be so resilient to heat and don't need so much heat to get warm as leather seats? Just a guess, could be the same, it's LR your talking, so anything is possible. Wink

All I can find is this:

The actual temperature settings vary with the type of seat covering, to allow for the different heat conduction properties of the different seat covering materials.

I had heated seats on both my D3's - the first had cloth seats, the second had leather - the cloth seats always seemed to heat up quicker
