Weird driving behaviour (from the car) |
|
Hi all, wondering if anyone could shed some light on an issue I am having whilst driving my D3 auto (diesel)
The symptoms occur when driving at at contact speed, say 50mph and when the revs are around 1500rpm. If I start to accelerate there is quite a lag and it feels like the revs drop slightly before an increase in speed happens, then everything seems ok. When the revs increase everything seems ok. That the best way that I can explain – it makes sense to be so hopefully to you all as well.
A little more info: the transmission was rebuilt by Bristol Transmissions fairly recently and the EGRs have been blanked.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what this could be then they would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance

Hi Scooters,
If you update your profile then the good and clever folk on here can maybe offer advice relevant to your particular D3/D4.
my initial guess would be EGR failing? ~(oh theyre blanked already)
But im a not clever so lets see.
Cheers.

Egrs blanked (no warning on dash!)
I don't know how to advertise this in my profile so any pointers would be appreciated.

By contact I assume you mean constant? if so I would be speaking to bristol trans and see what they recommend.

Yes, constant rather than contact. Thanks for that.

Especially after a major service the electronics in the ZF transmission need to 'relearn' your driving style. Take it for a run driving in a slightly more aggressive style using 'Sport Mode'.
It happened to mine several years ago after the dealer 'upgraded' the auto's software.

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

well, I popped into Bristol Transmissions who did some tests and stated that the speed sensor in the gearbox (or something like that) was throwing a fault - hopefully that is what is causing the issue.
I've no idea what that does though...
