sat nav lost itself

The other day i was driving just n/e of Peterborough and the sat nav had a silly 5 minutes. It showed me as driving across a nearby field. After a few miles it seemed to correct itself, is this an issue with the onboard computer or the satellite above went a bit wonky?

Interesting! Yesterday (Sat 23rd) our Sat Nav "lost itself", from around 12.30 midday until around 16.00. SHMBO was driving, and when she came home I went out to see for myself. Sure enough, it was "out" by about 15 miles east of our actual position.
Just as I returned home, it all went back to normal!

I assumed it was a D4 gremlin, but I suppose the whole G.P.S. Network could have mis-behaved.

Driving down from the Highlands on Tuesday, the sat nav suddenly started to misbehave. When a destination was entered, it would show the current position. but would not track. Delete the destination entry, and it would again show current position.
Tried turning the ignition off, but same problem when re-starting.
Was going to take it into the LR dealer in Kelso (who was very helpful) but when I started the car, lo and behold it worked and has done since!
Edited to correct typos.

Spooky, mine did this last Tuesday morning as well. Shocked

Kept going around in a circle in a field near the M4 (near Newbury).

When I drove home on the evening it was fine......

Mine showed a beige blank screen on startup when in Germany on 11th, in the end had to do a vehicle reset (iiD) to get it to work again, been fine ever since

Mine did that a while ago on the M6 - driving around fields, circles and different roads - corrected itself - never done it again - wood touched

answer?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35463347

"An error with the Global Positioning System (GPS) network has been blamed for causing problems with digital radio broadcasts last week.
The US Air Force said that removing a satellite from service had caused a software error."
