2012 LR4. Want the option to lay just the third or possibly the second and third row seats down and basically use the space as a pickup bed to haul kayaks with the car being protected. I want protection up the sides as well. Having a hard time finding anything like this online. Any ideas?

There is the following from Land Rover, but not sure how much help it would be when the middle seats are folded.

I have the same need! I'm thinking of getting a local tarpaulinier to make me what is in effect a four sided box made out of tarpaulin material that will slide into the cargo area when all seats are down. Height of sides will be about a metre I guess, a flap that extends over the lower tailgate and a few other enhancements I can think of. One company I spoke to briefly said that will be about £80 but that seems optimistic to me. That's as far as I've got so far....
I did look online for what I want, but all the ready made solutions are not quite what I want. There are some online who say they will customise their load space covers / hatch bags / floor protectors but I'm veering towards a local company right now.
I'll watch this thread with interest and will post any progress I make.D1 300Tdi - gone

I've thought of the exact same thing but for doing rubbish tip runs in. I was thinking along the lines of a polystyrene frame (the polystyrene that we use as inner wall insulation in house builds) so 3 sides and a base. Covering it with an old bed sheet and applying glass fibre resin to harden it, a bit like they do to build sub woofer boxes and speaker moulds for in car entertainment. The only thing is it wouldn't be collapsible so storage would be a bit difficult.

I use a large sheet of PVC - it's 900g/m2 which is the same that they use for curtain-sided trucks.
Cost price should be around £7-8 / m2 and it's possible to hold air weld it using a heat gun and a roller if you want to get all technical and create corners etc.
It's virtually indestructible and folds down when not required - you can also have tabs on the 'sides' if you want to fasten the sides up in any way.D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
