Battery life in a car park?

Seat of the pants calculations here. Car battery is 100Ah, quiescent current is <30mA.
100/30ma = 3333 hours = 138 days
BUT....that would reduce the power in the battery to zero.
How long in practice might my car last in a car park and still start when I get back to it. Assume battery is in good condition and fully charged when I left it. No electrical add ons to add to the current drain.

I'm expecting to be away for about three weeks. is there any hope?

I have been able to leave previous cars for three weeks and they have always started (2 litre petrol & 2.2 diesel), but from things I have read on here, I would be a little less confident in leaving my Discovery that long as they seem to be sensitive to their batteries.

I parked up for the night but didn't get back to the D3 for around 4 months and winter had set in.

It started on first go but ran very rough for the first few minutes.

Thumbs Up

Four months?! Way to go Robbie and His Car!

I used to leave the old Td5 for what seemed like indefinitely and it always started on the button. Never tested it beyond ten weeks though. Seems like the D4 might be made of the same sterling starting stuff. I'll let you know.

When you draw small currents from a battery the available capacity increases as Peukert’s Law is in your favour. If you increase the rate of discharge the available capacity decreases.

I was going to ask about solar chargers. I'm a bit cynical about them having seen the quality of one or two. There are some that plug into the OBD socket. Any good anyone?

Mind you, Peukert's law is working in my favour.

We use solar panels on eBay (£15-20 type) designed to keep your car battery topped up to run electric fences, they work well over a long period of time so think they would work. The other thing to do is have a smaller car battery (55 amp ish) in the boot and jump cables just in case, that's what I did for a few days when my battery started to die (always happens on a Friday of a bank holiday)

I've got one of these that I leave in the S-Max (apologies for the blasphemy) in the UK - sits there for 6-7 weeks and always starts first time. http://shop.theaa.com/store/shop/car-battery-solar-charger

I reckon...

3 weeks......mine will do that with new battery fully C-Tek charged
But you could load a spare battery fully charged & use this to boost your start up

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I have just collected my car from the car park where it has been sitting, unattended and uncared for for three weeks during what the media would have us believe was the latest Little Ice Age.
Walked up to the car, clicked the fob, all doors unlocked. Loaded bags, got in and started the engine. No dramas whatsoever. There was however quite a bang as I drove away as the brake pads relinquished their unauthorised grip on the disks. Apart from that there was no need to worry.
Before driving away I peeked under the car for oil and other fluid leaks - habit from having D2s in the past. The ground was dry. Huh? Is this car even a Land Rover?
Quietly impressed. The D4 is a stonking car.

Mine was goosed after a week in the airport car park....I can only assume the Blackvue was the culprit.
I don't think the battery was in top condition before I left it so possibly not a great example.....
