Disco 4 arriving
Hi Folks,
After much lurking, I've pulled the trigger on a 2012 D4 with 40K miles. Way more than I wanted to spend, but it does look nice. Its also got the rare Irish Water Spaniel option - so will be looking for recommendations on racks, carriers, guards, etc (why is the roof bar situation so complex??). Planning a road trip to Ireland in a few weeks, with 2 adults, 3 kids and Barney - may get a Prospeed roof rack, if they can deliver in time. Otherwise, its going to be a bit cramped back there.
Anyway, good to be officially in the fold.
Cheers,
Paul

Lovely looking car. Well done.
I don't think the Prospeed rack will fit your vehicle as it is designed for the short LR rails. Unless they have produced a new one which is compatible with long rails since last summer.

Yeah: right now working through the complexity of replacing the full length rails to fit a roof rack....sigh.

Very nice car! However, your dog stole the show from the pics above
Depending on your requirements, I'd suggest the Travall dog guard and cargo divider or even better would be a Travall dog guard and dog crate (which is the setup I have) to help keep the dog safe and the cargo in it's place
Apart from the roof rack, what else you got planned?Disco gone
Yeah: right now working through the complexity of replacing the full length rails to fit a roof rack....sigh.
Not the hardest of jobs, you just need to source some short rails & 2 bits of external trim (or fit a cap into the existing trim above driver & front passenger seats)

I need to use one of the boot seats, so leaning towards the crate option. We tour a lot, so may just throw the towel in and hitch up a trailer.....assuming the kids will get used to traveling in a trailer.

Its more the fact that I have to buy and retrofit the shorter rails that niggles a bit. All this when it would be far simpler to have a rack that secures directly on to the roof.

I can fully understand that, however if you go Prospeed you'll not regret itPaul.

Yeah: Barney is only 4 months old, but clearly very bright, well behaved and wonderful personality. I worry he may struggle to integrate with the family.

They've already been supremely helpful - Ben just now - just as others in this forum have observed. Great service....and I've not even bought from them yet.

Lovely looking motor, Paul. I'm sure you'll be very pleased.
But... even nicer looking woof! Water Spaniels are lovely, my lab definitely prefers other labs but spaniels are a close second. Mine is eleven months and I am looking for a Disco to house her in the back when we go on our adventures!
