I have the exact same problem. Wish I would have found this thread earlier before almost going crazy and replacing almost everything. Thank you so much!

BJWHITE, I have exactly the same fault, same errors.
I also have a IID Tools and it boggles the mind as to what causes this error.
I've replace 3 brake light switches, replaced the brake globes with LR globes...still cant get to the issue.
I may have missed the part, but I would love to know how the wiring harness runs. Obviously we run RH drive in SA.
Anyone here with a schematic or drawing of where the Brake Light switch / rear brake light wires run under the carpet ?

Just picked up an inexpensive LR3 locally which had this same issue. Since I had already been through this, I knew exactly what the suspension and transmission problems were even before I looked at the truck.
Sure enough, I get it home, have a look, and this splice is nothing but green powder. Re-spliced with proper waterproof heat shrink connectors and wha-laa, back in perfect operation.
What looks crazy expensive to fix is really about 30 minutes and some quick labor which costs $0.

Wow, what a great thread, I've got the same problem but on a LHD, just ordered a brake light switch, of that doesn't cure it I'll be debunking into the loom as described.
Thanks guys brilliant info.
Cheers

I had a look for the splice today and couldn't find it
Can i confirm its on the drivers side footwell on the smaller bunch of wires that has the connecter on?
Also how far down is the splice?

how to get the plastic panel off
i am trying to track down the elusive splice that may be the cause of a similar set of faults, but does anyone know how I get the plastic cover off that is covering the wiring loom ? Not the first bit of door trim plastic but the more solid bit underneath ?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread I’m in the UK - So in a RHD Disco 3! I have been searching for the splice also but had no luck so far! Any help or advice would be appreciated! I’ve pulled the passenger side carpet - which is where I’d expect it to be, but no sign of it.
