D4 theft from dealers premises |
|
Getting close to aquiring a D4 2011 XS from a local dealer. The sales rep’s boss explained to the sales rep, just out of ear shot, that all their Discovery’s had been disabled. I didn’t need a test drive right then so not a prob but the rep explained that they were worried about theft!! Is there anything that I need to know before purchase?
Cheers Kev

Search the forum for OBD theft and you'll see why they're worried. D4s are no different to any other valuable and attractive car though...

Get a secondary immobiliser and a disclock. Some of the gear out there being used by the criminals is very sophisticated. I'm not just saying that either. I've been working with JLR to try and stop the levels of thefts of which OBD port attack is just one.
As has been said, JLR aren't the only brand affected by any means.. Rimini red TDV6 BAS mapping and remote FBH. EGR blanked. Hawkeye just in case. TSL and Actevo. De Tangoed with full LED's and 32" Light Bar.
