D4 real world mpg ?

I am having a new car itch moment and had been playing around with the Porsche upgrade route but just do not get it: cost vs what you get for one's money so that's now a done deal !!. I can say I am really pleased with our D3 - I don't worry about the supermarket trolley brigade or the wanton vandalism that sports cars attract, it has done all that I have asked of it mud, motorway driving and deep water it's a great bit of kit, so the D4 seems the sensible step up from the D3. We saw a white 2010 GS today on a forecourt so stopped and had a look at. It was priced at £19,999 with 72k miles. Thing is though, am I better to go to a main dealer rather than an independent?

My D3 driven sensibly does 30 mpg so curious to know what people are really getting out of the D4 Tdv6 3.0L. Also, am I right in thinking the newer D4 is lower road tax than the D3 (£500/year really gets me!)

..... alternatively I s'pose I could just stick to the D3 that I'm very happy with.....

Deffo improvement on my D3. And prob 80% of that is cruising at 60 on longhauls. It's what happens when I get there that really screws the numbers up. Be careful making a conclusion on the best mpg number, local and non Mway stuff soon trashes it. And never ever believe the trip comp on a D3. Thumbs Up

We have just returned from a long weekend in the New Forest and averaged 28.5mpg over 550 miles and was really pleased with that.

Usually I get about 23mpg but I do have a short commute.

Not had mine long enough to really comment on MPG (less than a month) but re road tax, it only goes down from £500 when the model has stop/start - others will confirm, but its either MY14 or 15. So the 2010 model you looked at would still be £500.

only 2 fillusps so far, but considering most of that was done at 140-150kmh, not bad at all!

Averaging 26mpg over the last 12 months - that's full-to-full checks, not the lie-o-meter!

I don't bother with a fuel app but mine is doing 420 mile to the tank and it takes 75l to fill it back up. This by my rough calculation is just over 26mpg.

I've been using the free Road Trip Lite app. As recommended by other users on this forum Thumbs Up

Since my D4 has gone over 12k miles, I've noticed the mpg improving slightly to over 29mpg.

Average since using the app over 10k miles is 28.14mpg. That's been using standard Shell diesel for 95% of the time. Mpg noticeably suffered when using ASDA diesel and towing a very heavy twin axle plant trailer.

I'm anticipating the long term average to increase to c29mpg.

I am sure you will love it. I’m very pleased with my 2010 D4, which I purchased with 65,000 miles on the clock and is now on 81,000.
