That's ok.

It was purchased from a Land Rover main dealer about 18 months ago, so it came with a 12 month warranty and I paid for an additional 12 months, although the approved used vehicles now come with a 2 year warranty and I half day Land Rover Experience voucher.

There has been a few issues mostly minor and most made worse by the dealer which I am not impressed with and as much as I love the car I would never buy another one from them.

As for the problems, restricted performance a few hours after collection, followed by a sticking brake caliper a few weeks later, which necessitated new front brakes, next was a visit by the AA when it wouldn't start due to a brake servo problem, but an update solved this and the brakes where much improved for a while (previously though they were rubbish and are once again), finally restricted performance again which related to a turbo fault.

Aside from the first work on the brakes, all covered by the warranty and although it seems like a lot of problems I am still pleased with the car as they are fantastic and it still makes me smile.

Hmm an interesting post thanks Andy might I ask which dealer you used ,it appears that Land Rover main dealers are a bit hit and miss just as Porsche dealers are , I have used specialist Land Rover and Porsche and feel that they offer a better option than main dealers

I use Carrs in Threemilestone (just outside Truro).

I will need to find myself an independent as at this rate I will never buy another Land Rover thanks to them. They also needed 5 or 6 goes to sort out the towing electrics they fitted for me Rolling Eyes

Talking of which, it is in today for the detachable towbar inspection.

In their defence, they did manage to fit it in quickly after the AA call out and the turbo problem.

Ouch, that's not good, in which case Carrs are amazing in comparison and they were good today.

I must admit car dealers are not high on my list of favourite people.

Despite everything I do really love our Discovery.

United Kingdom 2015 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto Corris GreyDiscovery 4

These are my findings based on:

Towing a 2000kg caravan for 10% of the mileage.
Majority of other runs more local based than motorway etc.

06 plate D3 S 29,865 miles - 1323 galls - 22.6mpg.
10 plate D4 XS 34,935 miles - 1533 galls - 22.8 mpg.
15 plate D4 HSE 1,546 miles - 61 galls - 25.3 mpg.

The HSE is not as good an indication yet as the higher mileage results for the S & XS.

Would expect you guys not towing and plenty of steady motorway cruising miles to do better than my figures.

Griff.

I just filled up yesterday after mine said '0 km' on the range after previously saying 45km left. weird.

Anyway, it only took 75L, which means 7L left in the tank. By my calcs, this gives me 60km when the fuel warning light comes on.

As for main dealer or not, I suppose that there are various considerations. With the main dealer, you will pay more. But the approved warranty, with a car this complicated is worth it in peace of mind alone. I've got a 2010 model, although lower mileage. The warranty has taken care of pretty much everything that has gone wrong with it, although not much has, a new horn, compressor replaced and that's about it.

Fuel consumption? Well take heed of the figures above, they give a fair indication. But so much depends on the type of journeys, length of journeys and driving style that you really can't be that specific. Any improvement in MPG over the D3 is most welcome, but let's face it, who buys a Disco to save money?

Hi Pedros very true as you say who buys a Disco to save money ,but just trying to justify to myself why send an added £15,000 + to get not much additional benefit over a D3

"Not much additional benefit over a D3"....... what, apart from the additional power, better power delivery, smoothness, overall ride quality, less rugged interior (whether better or not is personal opinions) it also seems to be a lot more reliable after several years of D3 production leading to quality improvements all over, and all that whilst retaining the Permagrin........ So no, not much benefit there!!!!!!!

I went from a remapped D3 to a 2012 D4, so basic peak power was similar, but the whole car is a step forwards. Only go if you can afford to! Whistle Whistle
